Description

Delightful little dough bites tossed in sweet vanilla sugar, perfect for brunch or a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon vanilla powder for coating

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and a pinch of salt.
  3. Slowly mix the yeast mixture into the flour, incorporating real vanilla as you do, forming a dough.
  4. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
  6. Once risen, roll the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan and carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides.
  8. Remove from oil and immediately toss in a sugar-vanilla mixture.

Notes

Serve with fresh fruit compote or chocolate sauce for dipping. Can be frozen for longer storage.
