Description
Delightful little dough bites tossed in sweet vanilla sugar, perfect for brunch or a sweet treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon vanilla powder for coating
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the yeast over the top. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, mix flour and a pinch of salt.
- Slowly mix the yeast mixture into the flour, incorporating real vanilla as you do, forming a dough.
- Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour.
- Once risen, roll the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and carefully drop the dough balls into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides.
- Remove from oil and immediately toss in a sugar-vanilla mixture.
Notes
Serve with fresh fruit compote or chocolate sauce for dipping. Can be frozen for longer storage.
