Description
A comforting and indulgent French toast casserole perfect for brunches or festive gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf brioche (or challah, or French bread), cut into 1-inch cubes
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
- Evenly spread the bread cubes in your prepared dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the bread, gently pressing the bread down to help it absorb the liquid.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the top, ensuring an even layer.
- Allow it to sit for 10 minutes so the bread fully soaks up the custard.
- Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a delightful twist, try adding nuts, chocolate chips, or seasonal spices.
