Description

A comforting and indulgent French toast casserole perfect for brunches or festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf brioche (or challah, or French bread), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
  3. Evenly spread the bread cubes in your prepared dish.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, gently pressing the bread down to help it absorb the liquid.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the top, ensuring an even layer.
  7. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes so the bread fully soaks up the custard.
  8. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a delightful twist, try adding nuts, chocolate chips, or seasonal spices.
