Description

Delicious and fluffy Savory Breakfast Rolls filled with sausage, cheese, and green onions, perfect for brunch or breakfast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose and bread flours, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, water, melted butter, and beaten eggs until well combined.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until you have a cohesive dough.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Evenly sprinkle the crumbled sausage, shredded cheese, and green onions over the dough.
  9. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into equal pieces, about 1 to 2 inches wide.
  10. Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they’re golden brown.
  12. Serve warm and enjoy every bite!

Notes

These rolls can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days or refrigerated for about a week. They freeze well too, reheating nicely in the oven or microwave.
