Description
A comforting and flavorful overnight breakfast bake made with bread, fresh blueberries, and a custard mixture, perfect for busy mornings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of bread (day-old works best)
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Cut your bread into cubes and place them in a greased baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and sugar until well combined. Pour this mixture evenly over the bread cubes.
- Sprinkle fresh blueberries over the top, making sure to distribute them evenly.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight to allow the bread to soak up the custard.
- In the morning, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove the plastic wrap and dot the top with butter. Bake for about 40-45 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the blueberries are bubbling.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free bread. Feel free to experiment with different types of bread, like brioche or challah.
