Description

Quick and easy homemade bagels made with Greek yogurt for a healthy twist.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg (for an egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: sesame seeds, poppy seeds, everything bagel seasoning, garlic powder, or your favorite herbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, Greek yogurt, baking powder, and salt. Stir until the dough begins to form.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5 minutes, until it is smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide the dough into 6 to 8 equal pieces, depending on your preferred bagel size. Roll each piece into a ball, then create a hole in the center to shape it into a bagel.
  5. Place your shaped bagels on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring they’re spaced evenly apart.
  6. In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it generously over the tops of each bagel. Sprinkle with your desired toppings.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.
  8. Once baked, remove from the oven and allow them to cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a richer taste, use full-fat Greek yogurt. If you don’t have all-purpose flour, bread flour works as well.
