Description
Delight in the buttery, flaky goodness of homemade croissants, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Mix warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for about 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, softened butter, and cold water. Mix until a cohesive dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a warm area to rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough into a flat rectangle and begin folding to create layers.
- Cut the dough into triangles and roll them into the croissant shape.
- Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, brush with egg wash, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
