French Salted Butter Cookies

Description

Delicious and easy to make, these cookies combine rich buttery flavor with a hint of sweetness and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until everything is well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Using a tablespoon, scoop out balls of dough and place them on baking sheets lined with parchment paper, leaving space between them.
  6. Gently flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass to create a nice shape, then sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top for that perfect finish.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers remain soft.
  8. Once done, allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Freeze the dough for up to a month and bake directly from the freezer.
