  • Author: majestyrecipes

Description

Delightful, fluffy beignets dusted with powdered sugar, a taste of New Orleans made easy at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about five minutes until frothy.
  2. Gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Roll out the dough to about half an inch thick and cut it into 2-inch squares.
  5. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Carefully lower the squares of dough into the hot oil; fry until puffed and golden, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  7. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Serve fresh out of the fryer for best taste. These beignets can be paired with chocolate sauce or served with fresh fruit.
