Description
A comforting and hearty dish combining rich cream, savory Italian sausage, and al dente rigatoni pasta, perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz rigatoni pasta
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the rigatoni pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the Italian sausage and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Add the minced garlic into the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Lower the heat to a gentle simmer and pour in the heavy cream, stirring to blend.
- Mix in the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Stir until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked rigatoni to the skillet and toss to coat the pasta with the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley.
Notes
For a lighter version, you can substitute turkey sausage or plant-based alternatives and use half-and-half instead of heavy cream. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
