Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Boil the penne according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve about 1 cup of pasta water.
- Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once shimmering, toss in the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until fragrant.
- Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook until browned, about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Create the Sauce: Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Gradually mix in the reserved pasta water until desired consistency. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
- Combine Everything: Toss the cooked penne into the skillet with the sauce, stirring gently to coat.
- Serve: Dish out the pasta and top with additional Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
For a creamier sauce, mix cream cheese with heavy cream. For added heat, include crushed red pepper flakes while browning the beef.
