Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Boil the penne according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve about 1 cup of pasta water.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once shimmering, toss in the diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes or until fragrant.
  3. Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart. Cook until browned, about 7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  4. Create the Sauce: Lower the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Gradually mix in the reserved pasta water until desired consistency. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and creamy.
  5. Combine Everything: Toss the cooked penne into the skillet with the sauce, stirring gently to coat.
  6. Serve: Dish out the pasta and top with additional Parmesan or fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

For a creamier sauce, mix cream cheese with heavy cream. For added heat, include crushed red pepper flakes while browning the beef.
