- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salt until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using).
- Scoop big balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the center is still soft.
- Let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
